Multiquip upgrades GA series generators

Multiquip has upgraded its GA series of portable generators for what the Carson, Calif., company said is increased durability, easier handling and a redesigned control panel that allows the operator to power a wider variety of tools on the jobsite.

The GA series includes seven models with outputs from 2.5 to 9.7 kW. Multiquip said the gasoline-powered sets now offer several new features compared to Multiquip's previous line of portable generators. Each set is now wrapped with a 1 in. steel frame for improved durability, as well as additional twist receptacles so the operator can use more tools on the job.

The generators are fitted with a new-look control panel and the choice of Honda GX series or Robin EX series industrial grade engines. The line uses Robin EH 25-2 engines on the three smaller units. Honda's GX-340 engine is used on the three 6.0 kW modelss while the GX-610 is used on the largest 9.7 kW modal. All engines feature a recoil start, while electric start is available on the GA-6HE and GA-9.7HE models.

For easier handling, a lifting bail comes standard on the 3.6 kW and 6 kW generators. The bail's hinged design lays flat when not in use. As with earlier Multiquip portable generators, the new GA models have generator ends with 100% copper windings and brushless alternator designs, which Multiquip said ensures longer life for the alternator and provides voltage regulation of [+ or -] 3% for any tools powered by GA series units.
