Networking group Cisco Systems has bought Web software solutions group American Internet Corporation in a stock deal worth $56m - AIC

Networking group Cisco Systems has bought Web software solutions group American Internet Corporation (AIC) in a stock deal worth $56m. AIC specialises in products that allow remote upgrades and installation of PCs, set-top boxes and cable modems. Its best known products are Network Registrar and Access Registrar. The acquisition is another step by Cisco to build up its position as a supplier to Internet service providers and CATV groups.
