Natural gas engine oil - Valvoline Commercial/Industrial Group launches Premium Blue GEO engine lubricating oil

The Valvoline Commercial/Industrial Group has introduced a new engine lubricating oil formulated specifically for use in natural gas engines. Premium Blue GEO is a low ash, SAE 15W40 engine oil designed to provide excellent valvetrain wear protection and deposit control, which are key factors to achieving long-term engine durability, the company said.

According to Valvoline, key benefits include improved wear protection; good thermal stability with oxidation and nitration control; enhanced piston deposit control; good catalyst compatibility because of its reduced phosphorus content; strong shear stability and low temperature startup protection; and the minimizing of hot spots that can lead to increased emissions or catalyst "poisoning."

Premium Blue GEO oil is available in bulk and in drums and is recommended for urban bus, delivery vehicles and other service fleets fueled by compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas or propane. The oil is recommended by Cummins Engine Co. for all of its dedicated natural gas engines for vehicular applications including B-G, C-G and L-10G models in specific applications, according to Valvoline. The oil is also suitable for Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel CNG/LNG engines and certain other natural gas engines, according to Valvoline.
