NISSAN - Nissan Industrial Engines, new engines - Brief Article

Nissan Industrial Engine Operations (NIEO) said it will launch a more powerful version of its existing 4.2 L, in-line, six-cylinder TB 42 multifuel engine. The new TB 45 engine will have a 4.5 L displacement and be rated at 160 hp, but will share the same configuration and dimensions as its predecessor, eliminating re-engineering costs for OEMs. Targeted for release in late 2001, the TB 45 engine will be available in carbureted and electronic fuel-injected versions.

New Engine Technology

Expanded product offerings include complete power unit kits for all models of Nissan industrial engines, 1.3 L through 4.2 L. This has been accomplished through the formation of a strategic alliance between Universal Radiator and NIEO. Universal has designed a full line of Nissan-specific radiators, front and rear supports, fan shrouds and rock guards all designed to make the Nissan engine line easier to use, the company said.

Nissan has also introduced a new LP/ governing system specifically designed to address the needs of the generator set market. This new system is provided by Woodward Governor Co. and was designed for the Nissan line of industrial engines.

Emissions

In December, the 2.0 L H20 and the 2.5 L H25 engines were certified as compliant to California's new off-road, large spark ignited engine standard. The four-cylinder, in-line models produce ratings of 54 and 62 hp respectively Both engines develop maximum torque in the 1600 to 1800 rpm range, having been designed to address the needs of the industrial market.

Nissans entire industrial engine line, including the 1.3 L CG 13, 1.5 LA 15, 1.5 L H 15 and the 4.2 L TB 42, have also been certified for use in off-road equipment in California. All models are multifuel capable, having the ability to operate on gasoline, LPG, NG and dual fuel. All are available with carbureted or Zenith-supplied EEl fuel delivery systems.
