Zenith, Hyundai sign LSI engine agreement: distributor agreement brings six new gaseous-fueled engines to Zenith line; supply agreement to add seventh

Zenith Power Products LLC (ZPP), the Bristol, Va., industrial engine distributor and fuel systems manufacturer, has announced a significant expansion of its large spark-ignited (LSI) industrial engine line.

In an announcement made to distributors late last year, ZPP has added six new LSI engines to its existing engine line-up. The new engines am the result of an engine distributor agreement ZPP has signed with Hyundai Motor Co. (HMC), Seoul, Korea, appointing Zenith as HMC's distributor of industrial engines in North America.

Further, ZPP is also nearing completion of an engine supply agreement with another engine manufacturer for larger LSI engines in the 4.0 L to 6.0 L range, bringing a seventh--and maybe an eighth--new engine into the fold.

These agreements will give Zenith a range of 11 engines overall, that will eventually include displacements from 1.0 L to 6.0 L, in inline four-cylinder and six-cylinder configurations, as well as a vee six-cylinder and eventually a vee eight-cylinder model. Available outputs will range from 40 to 300 hp at 3600 rpm.

Typical applications for these engines in the highly competitive North America LSI market include mobile uses such as aerial platforms, scissor lifts, scrubbers, sweepers, welders and carpet cleaners, as well as utility equipment and some construction equipment applications, said Darcio Giovanetti, president or Zenith Power Products LLC. On the stationary side, LSI engines typically rind use in gen-sets, gas compressors and irrigation pumps.

Also part of the ZPP organization is Zenith Fuel Systems (ZFS), a long-time manufacturer of gasoline, LPG and natural gas fuel systems which recently introduced its ZEEMS II fuel system with a modular throttle body/governor/ vaporizer. The ZEEMS fuel systems are integrated onto all ZPP engines. ZFS also has numerous components available to complement all fuel system installations for OEM's applications.

Zenith said it will emissionize the new engines and serve as the manufacturer of record (MOR) for all applications, a key requirement in the LSI markets in North America.
