Packaging materials gain NIPHLE award

Manufacturer of high-reliability packaging systems, has received a prestigious product design award from the North American National Institute of Packaging, Handling and Logistics Engineers.
Automated Packaging Systems, the world leader in high-reliability packaging systems, has received a prestigious product design award for its AirPouch void-fill air pillows with EZ-Tear perforations. The award was presented by the North American National Institute of Packaging, Handling and Logistics Engineers (NIPHLE) at its annual conference in Baltimore, USA, earlier this month. AirPouch received the award in the 2006 Design Competition's Short-Life Packaging category for its exceptional ergonomic and productivity design features and its EZ-Tear perforations, which are unique in the void-fill and air pillow industry.

The AirPouch Express 3 desktop void-fill system is fast and easy-to-use, providing protective air-filled cushions to meet end-of-line packing requirements at a rate of 15 linear m/min.

The EZ-Tear perforation design consists of a cut part way through the regular perforation, making it extremely easy for packers to grab a strip of air pillows and quickly tear off as many as they need.

Additionally, the EZ-Tear feature allows the pillows to inflate more completely for a higher material yield that reduces costs.

The AirPouch air pillows deliver many advantages over other packing materials because they are cleaner, lighter, more user-friendly, and they do not hide the product inside the box.

Paul Hayden, European marketing manager said, 'We are pleased to have received this award from an organisation as prestigious as NIPHLE.

We designed our air pillows with many operational advantages and it is nice to see the industry recognise this.' The AirPouch is a compact, tabletop unit that is lightweight, has a small footprint, and features an all-electric design that does not require compressed air.

Environmentally friendly, the ultra lightweight cushions provide a no-mess packing solution that significantly reduces shipping and disposal/recycling costs.

Its strong cushions offer excellent protection and padding - ideally suited for components, spare parts, CDs, books, electronics, pharmaceuticals, electrical items, mail order centres, fulfilment houses, automotive parts distribution - and many more applications.
