IMPCO Technologies said it has been glinted emission approval for the General Motors 1.6 L industrial engine for off-highway mobile use beginning in 2004. The CARB Executive Order and the EPA approval states that the General Motors 1.6 L engine equipped with propane and gasoline emission control systems produced by IMPCO are certified for use by original equipment manufacturers in meeting the new 2004 off-highway emission regulations. The engines will utilize IMPCO's Spectrum electronic emission control and fueling system. IMPCO is the only company to receive multiple off-highway emission approvals for the GM engines.
In a similar announcement, Zenith Power Products said it has received executive orders from CARB for four Nissan large spark-ignition engines for model year 2004. The four engines are: the 1.3 L model CG13; the 1.5 L model A15; the 2.0 L model H20; and the 2.5 L mode] H25. Zenith, Bristol, Va., said the engines have attained certification on various fuels, including gasoline, LPG and dual-fuel gasoline and LPG. The required standards for these engines are 3.0 g/bhp-hr for HC + [NO.sub.x] and 37.0 g/bhp-hr for CO. According to the CAR33 executive orders, the model CG13 had certification levels of 1.8 g/bhp-hr HC + [NO.sub.x] and 2.1 g/bhp-hr CO. The certification levels for the modal A15 are 1.6 and 4.8 respectively; 2.0 and 8.0 for H20; and 2.4 and 6.8 for the H25. All emissions certifications were obtained using the ZEEMS Electronic Fuel Injection Systems manufactured by Zenith Fuel Systems LLC and a catalyst from DCL International Inc.
